Ajax Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic is a form of healthcare that uses spinal adjustments to correct misalignments and restore proper function to the nervous system, helping your body to heal naturally. Chiropractic does not use drugs or surgery. Rather, a chiropractic spinal adjustment – the application of a precise force to a specific part of the spinal segment – corrects the misalignment, permitting normal nerve transmission and assisting your body to recuperate on its own. At Somerset Family Chiropractic & Wellness Centre, our Doctors of Chiropractic use advanced techniques to restore abnormal spinal curvatures. These unique approaches aid in greater patient satisfaction and great results. Their methods have been shown to aid in patients suffering from low back pain, neck pain, headaches, arthritis, scoliosis, sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia and much more.
People have been using chiropractic to treat back and neck pain for many years, but it can also be used to relieve pain on other musculoskeletal areas like your knee, ankle, or elbow. If you are feeling pain in those areas, or any other part of your body, chiropractic is a safe and noninvasive way to allow your body to heal naturally.
Here are some common conditions that can be treated with chiropractic:
- Lower, mid, and upper back stiffness
- Neck pain
- Joint pain and carpal tunnel syndrome
- Headaches or migraines
- Leg and arm pain, weaknesses or tingling
Chiropractic can also help with non-musculoskeletal conditions like ear infections and arthritis. Although chiropractic won’t cure these conditions, by restoring the proper nerve functions in your spine, it will put your body in a better position to allow it to innately heal itself.
These are some of the common non-musculoskeletal conditions that can benefit from chiropractic:
- Low levels of energy
- Ear infections
The final common condition that chiropractic can treat are injuries caused by playing sports, from a car accident or from working. Each injury is treated uniquely by the chiropractor and they will understand how to treat different types of injuries. For example, if you were in a car accident, the chiropractor will know that there are delayed onset symptoms that can surface months after the accident.
Here are some of the common injuries that our chiropractors treat:
- Lifting injuries while on the job
- Sports injuries
- Slips and falls
- Whiplash and other automobile accident injuries

Spinal adjustments are the main method of chiropractic treatment, but there are also other treatments that Doctors of Chiropractic know how to perform for neuromusculoskeletal disorders.
Here are a few of the different chiropractic treatments:
Soft tissue therapy
If you have muscle spasms or pain, soft tissue therapy can be used successfully to reduce or relieve that discomfort. Depending on your condition, there may be multiple treatment plans you could try, including trigger point therapy.
There are two different types of therapeutic exercises; exercise for overall health and exercise for injuries.
Exercising for overall health means your everyday exercises (like walking, or playing sports, etc.) that keep you healthy and live longer. Exercising has been proven to lower blood cholesterol, lower body fat, gain muscle strength, and strengthen the immune system.
Exercising is an important part of the rehabilitation process after you sustain an injury. Your chiropractor will recommend you different exercises to do during each step of the rehabilitation process. Performing therapeutic stretching will prevent scar tissues to become permanent because scar tissue can form after an injury. After you are done rehabilitating, maintaining your stretching routine will help keep your tissues loose and flexible, as well as prevent further injuries.
